A therapy dog is a trained dog that provides comfort and support to individuals in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and other settings. These dogs are trained to interact with people in a calm and gentle manner, and are often used to help people cope with stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges.
Therapy dogs are typically chosen for their temperament and sociability, as well as their ability to be trained to perform certain tasks or behaviors.
Our next Therapy Training session will begin on Sunday, June 29 @ 4 pm.
This training will prepare dogs and their handlers for the Alliance of Therapy Dog Test and also observations. We will work on dog's manners when they meet people, young and older, or possibly using assistive devices such as walkers and wheelchairs. Also young readers. We will also work on skills needed for observations after the testing process.
Dogs should be friendly and enjoy approaching people and also be able to deal with other dogs in close proximity. Dogs who are reactive to people or other dogs are not candidates for therapy dogs.
Hurry and reserve your training spot in the therapy dog session starting on Sunday, June 29th.
Cost is $120 for the 4 week session, payable the first day.
Class dates are Sunday, June 29, July 6, July 13 and 27 (No class on July 20)
