Saturday, July 18th
8:30 am - 12:30 pm -- Session 1 -- Containers for All! NW1 to Elite
This workshop will take your training to the next level. Pooling odor in containers can make things more challenging during container searches. Distractors and pooling odor will be reviewed, and exercises will focus on building effective container searches with varying levels of distractors and pooling odor challenges.
Prerequisite: Open to all levels. Dog must be on odor.
1:30 pm - 5:30 pm -- Session 2 -- Problem Solving for NW1 - NW3
One of the principle skills dogs need in nose work is problem solving. Whether it’s working pooling/trapping odor, working the wind, thresholds, converging, etc., the dog must be able to solve these problems to get to source. In this workshop you will learn how to recognize problems and how to help your dog solve them. We will address the foundation issues that can cause challenges at trials and give you the tools to solve them. Strategies for competing in multiple venues will be discussed.
Prerequisite: Open levels from Preparing for NW1 to NW3. Dog must be on odor.
Sunday, July 19th
8:30 am - 12:30 pm -- Session 3 -- Nose Work Tale
In this workshop, we will discuss what to look for when your dog is on odor or smelling something else. What does your dog look like when they hit the odor cone, when they are working out a scent problem or just hit an interesting smell? Video will be used to assess behaviors. Also, participants are encouraged to bring video of your dog working.
Prerequisite: Open to all levels. Dog must be on odor.
1:30 pm - 5:30 pm -- Session 4 -- Up Your Mental Game
The Mental Management® System is a recognized mental training program that is taught to and used by World and Olympic Champions throughout the world. Lanny Bassham is recognized as a teacher of the world’s best in the area of mental preparation for sport and business.
In this workshop, you will learn the foundation of mental management and how to apply the mental management principles to nose work. For those who compete in nose work know the mental game is key to the success of any team. This workshop improves your mental game for nose work.
Prerequisite: Great for all levels.
